Will Sarah now accuse Powell of being pals with the pal of a terrorist?

I don’t know how much longer Sarah Palin and John McCain will be able to keep spouting their obsessive, delusional, and purposefully misleading rhetoric about Obama, pals, and terrorists. I imagine they’ll muffle that message beginning yesterday, at least if they’re even slightly capable of thinking rationally at this point.

Listen to — or read — Colin Powell’s comments on Meet the Press yesterday and you’ll experience a refreshing intelligence, candor, and sensibility that is all but missing from much of the public Republican dogma these days.

Yesterday, I walked in a march, along with several thousand other people, in support of Obama. The only ugly moment occurred when a rabid-looking woman (seriously, her face was so contorted with rage) sporting McCain/Palin decals, leaned out of her car and with both hands (luckily she wasn’t driving) jabbed her middle fingers in and up and down motion at the crowd of Obama supporters. It lasted only a few seconds, really, at least at that juncture (she probably continued her behavior all the way down the road), but it exemplified for me the sad quality of character exhibited by so many Palin/McCain supporters — at least in public.

  1. Please, ignore the few typos.

  2. Mary, Debbie and I both attended the rally in support of Obama.
At least this was a bridge that led somewhere.

A “HUGE” congratulations goes out this week goes out to Janet Guttridge and her amazing feat for organizing such a wonderful event. Though the Saqrasota, Herald-Tribune got the numbers wrong (as I kind of figured they would). But in today’s edition (Monday, Oct. 20th., they had the bridge walk numbers at 2,000 when in fact there were between 5,000 – 6,000 who attended. Not only is Sarasota County “Obama” Country, the bridge walk certainly sent a positive message out; we desperately need a change. There were “walkers” in wheel-chairs, on crutches, people from all over the state. What an event and thank you Janet for a job well done. Iv’e always said and this was a quote from Margaret Thatcher; “If you want to just talk about something, speak to a man. If you want to accomplish something, talk to a woman”. And Janet, certainly accomplished her goal. She anticipated 500 people would show up, and there were ten times the amount!!!

  3. Just to let you know MC that woman was actually Blue State Sally Hostage who was wearing a wig..He is just so immature with his antics…
Powell made some sense yesterday but somehow I don’t trust him anymore because of how he made the case for war at the UN meeting and really he is the main person I believe why we went to war in the first place so……………..No surprise with his support of Obama but Palin should not be the issue it should be who will lead us out of this economic disaster and who would be the most competent Commander in Chief!

  4. What I found interesting and disturbing with your video John are the 475 responses to it.Yikes…………….I will ask you again still voting for the lesser of 2 evils?

    Mary Catherine

So one person acts like a jackass at an Obama rally and you condemn an entire group. To quote “…. but it exemplified for me the sad quality of character exhibited by so many Palin/McCain supporters — at least in public” Interesting how your prejudice comes shining through. Prejudice against McCain/Palin supporters (not that one knucklehead) because they do not share your idyllic view as to who should be the next President. Shameful and disappointing especially given prior comments made against prejudice, racism or those stances in favor of equal opportunity and those in defense of Obama regarding Reverend Wright.

But I guess it’s OK when you are making prejudicial remarks.

    Well played MC, well played.

Now regarding that pathetic superannuated gas bag, Steve. You should know I only fire when fired upon. Accordingly you are prime example, Stevie boy, of an individual Obama needs to help. An individual who rips open an envelope every month based upon a weak or probably non-existent medical disability. But admittedly you can play tennis but can’t work. You are probably not paying a dime of taxes because it’s a medical disability, which is generally tax-free especially if you live outside of NJ. Not to mention the possibility of receiving Social Security disability benefits in addition to the NJ disability monies. You have no work ethic and prefer to await whatever crumbs the government of NJ and the US dole out. To skate any possible tax liability you moved to FL you have no “real” income so you pay no taxes. Lets hear some of your snarky little comments. I await you reply unless you left your balls in NJ.

I’d like to know when George Bush “spread it around” what did you do with that $300 an economic stimulus check this summer. Did you spread it around, contribute it to the less fortunate? I presume you all did all spread around that $300 to help the less fortunate or will be writing a check real soon given your position with the candidate Obama.. My guess you probably did not. I’m confident I’m right liberals only like to give away others money not their own. I’ll bet you dinner on it. Just post copies of the cancelled checks and win the bet. You Fredo and Blowman. There were people who did not pay into the system who got a check for $300 and I’d say these were truly individuals in America who need assistance and that they should have it. What about you??

  9. Why even answer you when you seem to have all the answers. You want answers..You can’t handle the truth….Meet you anyhwere you want in our Italian restaurant….You are so way off but we knew that anyway didn’t we Michael Myers hmmm???Glad to discuss in person but you really rather hide behind empty words through this blog than have some stones to meet face too face..See ya BSF..Yipppeeeekayyeeeee Roy…PS Still have an offer of free therapy for you…and the check was $600 not $300 ..You want to see the cancelled check Patrick Bateman I welcome you here anytime but you have no stones and really you remind me of Willie Mays playing centerfield for the Mets in his last years ..Very sad and pathetic…Toodles just saved the world and am tired….Johnny KnoxvillePS Check is direct deposit Buffalo Bill no not the TV show but the movie….Shake it easy Price…Sefton

  10. PS I meant the character Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs…..Tata and I pay more taxes than you….another bet Blue Dateless in Seattle? …”Fire when fired upon” you just have no sense of humor do you David Gale?

The Bruce Willis wanta be speaks. Your half hearted attempts to be witty with your opaque movie references obviously don’t get the job done especially since your feel the compelling need to clarify and explain……. hence you will be forever know by the moniker Half Wit or Mr. Half, Mr. Half and Half, or Half a Man.

I live life unlike you, a typical American philistine sitting in the cinema or in front of a television living your life through that prism and regurgitating those little kernels of what you think makes you so avant-garde. Take the advice of MC wake up and live.

Who’s Tata your hand puppet perhaps? but again unlike you, I need to stay on point and respond to your baseless charges, lets see……

I do not maintain that I have all the answers. however I am certain to whom I speak “Tata and I pay more taxes than you” I am glad you have a caretaker however, this discussion is between you and I and there is no reason to bring your life partner into this discussion. Must I remind you that disabled school teachers from NJ, generally speaking, do not light up the board paying taxes. You sir, by your own admissions are a taker not a giver. From a payment of “income” taxes it is safe to say that (remember)… you suck at the tete of the state of NJ and probably the federal government for that matter I guess you now want to include the taxes paid on your cardboard box of a residence, that 1968 dodge dart you may be driving, and any interest income you earned collecting cans and bottles on Long Beach Key. Unfortunately those activities you engage in when you are not watching TV still does not put you above the $37,000 needed to pay taxes Roy.

I erred the stimilus check was $600 it was probably because I did not receive one. A little information from which you can derive what you can but there again you benefited from my payment of federal taxes fortunately for you not directly. I’m sure you won’t lose any sleep over it. That being said, scan the check demonstrating you contributed to a worthy cause, forward a copy to MC. She can arbitrate I trust she’ll verify you did as you say. If true I will be happy to buy dinner for you and your life partner at your favorite Italian restaurant. I just hope it’s not the Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill.

Regarding Willie Mays I was always partial to Ernie Banks and the Cubs with respect to players of that era. Me, sad? pathetic? How could that be? It gives me pleasure no GREAT pleasure to engage in this discourse not only with you but with all MC’s acolytes.

Empty words and challenges try to remember what Sun Tzu said Generally, he who occupies the field of battle first and awaits his enemy is at ease; he who comes later (that’s you ROY) to the scene and rushes into the fight is weary. You better get some sleep …………

If thats too hard to comprehend I’m sure you’ll figure this one out before you attempt a response …don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.

In closing; first; some advise seriously don’t say “toodles” it may be something you use with your life partner but, you really need to man up at least for appearances. Secondly; Plymouth Rock is in Massachusetts. Finally please remember the only way to get motion from a dead fish is to make waves. Peace out

    I’m waiting chickenman……….

  12. I thought I was very witty but….Okay enough with the personal attacks this column is a great one and MC has alot of class allowing us free speech but I think many people are tired of our personal attacks so let’s call a truce okay.If you want to discuss any issues I will be glad to give you my own personal e mail or even phone number.I know we both have a right to say what we want but I certainly do not want to take away from MC and her reader’s with what is said on a personal issue .I also know I don’t have to respond to anyone too or not read this column but I respect Mary Catherine alot and so this is the way I will handle myself from now on.
Now on to baseball I was a Mantle fan and always respected Ernie Banks.Very classy. Also Ron Santo who should be in the HOF without a doubt. How about Ken Hubbs and the the horrific crash..Enough I am playing two today so out I go.
