SNN severance clarification … and a bit more about our man Bruce

Bruce Asbury contacted me this morning to correct one of his statements from our conversation of yesterday. “I made a slight error in the severance,” Asbury told me today. The 26-week severance payout mentioned in yesterday’s post was only for employees who’d been with SNN 6 for more than 13 years, Asbury said today, — not five years as he’d stated when I interviewed him yesterday. Asbury added that he believes that, “Under that rule, nobody at SNN is getting 26 weeks.”

The station was founded in July, 1995, I believe — so not quite 14 years ago. If anyone has any news to share on this story, feel free to post a comment or contact me directly at mcrealityonline@yahoo.com.

Since posting yesterday’s post, I’ve heard from a gazillion (okay a dozen!) folks in the community who have talked about how much they loved Bruce Asbury’s reporting, and how refreshing they found his personality in this town that can sometimes be a bit, shall we say, um, stodgy? In fact, most folks had high praise overall for SNN 6 and regret its disappearance.

All this chaos from the simple fact that a well-meaning Democrat controlled Congress and Senate took it upon themselves with the assistance of the Republican President to rewrite legislation regarding the government’s role in financing and commerce to assist (read that as, buy votes) for the lower middle class and the poor.

Please keep in mind, very few elected officials on both the State and Federal level have a degree in Economics. They really have been unqualified to make decisions in this regard. Now, they are trying to cover their mistakes like a cat in the litter box.

Now, we have a President who is attempting fear inspired intimidation with slick and well-thought words to shove through legislation that will only increase the burden on the American people for generations to come.

Well, Commrade M.C., are you still inspired by this new socialist demi-god ?
