Here’s to your health! Chin, chin. Salut! — but you better have healthcare first!

Tim Sukits, staff writer at Creative Loafing, sent some good info on the health care issue …. I’m a strong proponent of health care reform — in a way that insures that all citizens have access to good, regular, and affordable health care, so I thought I’d share Tim’s message with my reality readers as well. Your comments — pro or con — are welcome at this post!

Tim’s email:

No matter what your opinions on health care reform are, I think this emotional video highlights how important the health care debate is and how much it meant to Senator Kennedy:

American citizens should never have to choose between paying for health care or providing food and shelter for their families. In the richest nation on Earth, affordable quality health care should be a right, not a privilege for those with the means. I encourage you all to sign this petition to pass “The Kennedy Bill” so that we may have a truly just society:

Thanks to all of you and I look forward to an honest and sincere health care debate in the weeks to come.

    Cheers,

    Tim

From the email of a very perceptive friend.

    “Let me get this straight.

We’re going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president who also hasn’t read it, and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s nearly broke.”.
