Coward’s wish

The darkening
Comes
Whether
We will
Have it or not.

Beckons us
To come along

Brushes light
Aside with right
And falls
More quickly
Than we ever
Think
It will.

In night, then,
Every wish
A prayer
For conscience deep,

Or Hamlet’s sleep.

    I was moved…

  2. Ah, thanks John for taking the time to read my poetry! Hope you’re having a wonderful day — it’s beautiful here in Sarasota.

  3. I love your poetry and just said the entire poem beginning, “Insulated as it is by its cushion of double walls” out loud alone in my room in New Hampshire. I still know it!

    Happy Easter!

    Amy

  4. Oh, I wish I were up there in NH with you — spring just springing. Thanks so much for reading my poetry, Amy, and for remembering poems past. Saw your mention in Sarasota Mag just yesterday and wondered “Where in the world is Amy right now!?” Could be Paris, San Fran, Sarasota, New Hampshire and I’m glad to hear it’s the latter. NH is always great this time of year.

    Happy Easter to you too.
