Sarasota County Commission hopefuls are thinking smart

Uber-reporter/newsman Stan Zimmerman commented on yesterday’s blog that in fact, another Sarasota County Commission hopeful — Nora Patterson –(Republican) had also foregone the pay-for-placement-on-the-ballot route and qualified to be on the ballot already by obtaining official petitions from registered Sarasota County voters.

Apparently, Patterson announced the qualification via a media release on April 22 — I just don’t recall seeing it in any news reports, guess I missed it. re-elect-nora-patterson-2

Maybe even more commissioner-hopefuls both city and county follow this route to get their names on the ballot. I think I’ll pay more attention to this in the future. If anyone knows who’s doing what in how to get on the ballots, post a comment here.

Kudos to Patterson for achieving the necessary signatures so soon and thanks to Stan the Man for letting me know that Mark Smith isn’t/wasn’t the only Commission hopeful using this smart and cost-saving and more egalitarian (it seems) mechanism to get on the ballots.

Hmm, interesting thought.. She could run on the independent ticket and vote for real fiscal responsibility and sensibility that neither Democrats or Republicans seem to be capable of..

Maybe, then run for state senator.. Then, Governor.. Then, who knows ?

    Fun to think about, though.

So, what do you say Ms President ?

  3. You mean you would vote for a Democrat JWP?

  6. Blushing here in SRQ!

  7. Scott…John, While I certainly know Mary would be an excellent choice…. really think twice to what you’re saying. As truly a wonderful person MC is, would you really want to see her turn bad? Scott, John, you name one politician who’s not crooked…. well, there ya go then. I’ve known many a great men who started out with the best interests in the voters needs, then, they were handed small bribes at first, the small ones turned out to be huge bribes from contractors, then even larger bribes from developers… well, you get the picture. MC will be much better off staying true to herself, true to her soul and by that, I mean, sticking with what she’s best at, and that’s writing. Far as I’m concerned, no one in the County can hold a candle to MC. Mary, keep to being truthfull to yourself and your rewards spiritualty, will be tenfold.

  8. Thanks for the kind words and good thoughts, Daniel!
