MC, you are my hero, and I was SO upset when the Pelican Press stopped printing your column because it gave me hope. How happy I am to have just discovered your blog! I have submitted a second article/column to the Herald Tribune, "DREAMing of a HOME", and hope it will be in print soon, too. You can also read my posts re: homelessness in Sarasota on theBraveDiscussion.com, a new international women's blog co,ing out of Australia. Everyone is welcomed to submit articles to it that deal with issues women face all over the world. With my future articles I would like to offer ways that the community can come together to address the issue of homelessness with compassion and understanding. Learning about how dire the situation is in our beautiful community is truly shocking, but something we can no longer ignore. With OVER 2000 HOMELESS CHILDREN in Sarasota, alone, it is time for us to put aside petty issues and address urgent, human needs. I know we can do it! What a truly wonderful story. A great piece. I hope all your readers take a moment to read it as well. Mary, you truly never know how good you have it, until you've lost it. Having fallen on my face a couple times...I once had it all, lost everything, but got back up, dusted myself off and never gave up. But, there are so many out there who simply do not have the opportunities available to them now, as were available before, when this economy took a turn for the worse.
